Preparing For Winter

In preparation for winter, I washed 8 loads of laundry yesterday. I wanted to make sure we had all our winter clothing washed and hung for the week. I also washed all the sheets and blankets.

Today I pulled out all the heavy comforters and sleeping bags. They got a bath as well. Since we don't have central heat, and it doesn't get below 35 degrees all winter, we rely on lots of layers and space heaters.

When it gets down to about 50 degrees or lower, we all bundle up in the master bedroom to sleep. We end up with me, my husband, my son, and the 2 little dogs. My son gets to camp out on a blow up mattress and a sleeping bag. He loves it because he gets to pretend like he is camping! We even let him stay up (until about 10:30) and watch movies with us. The joy of homeschooling!

The 2 big dogs on the other hand prefer to sleep in the living room on their couch. Yes, they have their own couch! It is our second couch that we hardly use. I put sheets on it so they don't ruin the fabric. In the winter I add lots of blankets and turn the space heater on for them. They are good dogs, so I trust then with the heater. The little dogs on the other hand would probably catch us all on fire! That is why they sleep with us!

We all stay warm and cozy in the winter, and our electric bill doesn't sky rocket with a big heat bill!

I am off to make some hot chocolate and get ready for bed!
